1- Specific Market Targeting
There is a saying… if you shoot with a shotgun, you’ll get the results of a scattered hit. But if you shoot with a 45, you’ll get a pin-pointed laser hit. When it comes to our business, we need to be shooting with a 45.
It isn’t possible to go after everyone. So why try? That will take energy, time and effort, and you may or may not hit your target. BUT… if you are strategic and only go after a certain type of person/market, you’ll be quicker to reach that objective.
In other words, you carve out your corner of the market and then focus all your time, energy and effort there. The rewards WILL pay off. If you want a clear path to growth, you need to focus on your core customer… the one who needs your product or service the most.
2 – Partnering with others
You may not have the budget or even the know how on how to beat or compete with some of the huge names in your industry. But don’t let that stop you. If you have a product or service that people need, partner with someone who can help you market or distribute your product to YOUR core customer.
There may be a distribution center that could market to a specific type of person that will help you go to the next level. Never let the competition be something that holds you back. Do your research and find out who you can partner with that needs what you have… and you need what they have. This kind of partnership will grow your company/business.
3 – Get organized
As a small business owner, you have to wear many hats. But you can do that in the beginning as long as you are organized with your tasks, goals and objectives. Literally, have a checklist of all the things that need to be done and begin to check them off one by one as you accomplish them. Delegate when you can, but if it’s just you, keep working away at your list. Not only does this give you a sense of accomplishment and success, but it also means you will systematically get done everything that needs to get done for your business to grow.
Every business owner has to be deliberate and strategic in their actions for objectives to get accomplished.
4 – Build relationships
If you are just a name or number, there is no incentive for anyone to follow or buy from you. But if you are strategic in building relationships, you will give people a reason. I’m not saying fake it, I’m suggesting that you begin to care for your current customers (if you don’t yet) and show that you care for all your future customers. This can be accomplished through words, promotions, sales, marketing and social media. When you create your campaigns, make it clear how much you truly do care for your customers.
Again, there’s a saying, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. When we “care” for our customers and clients, they will listen to what we have to say.
5 – Become a Leader in your industry
Determine now to lead your niche/industry. When you go in with the mindset that you will lead others, it builds your confidence and helps you to set in place the tools, training and knowhow to take everything you are doing to the next level. Yes, you need to have leaders you follow, but don’t stay only as a follower. Become a leader first in your own mind… and then begin to model that leadership to your industry. YOU be the trendsetter. YOU be the one that comes up with the innovative ideas and products.
How? By simply asking The Holy Spirit for help. He is a genius. He knows how to lead you… and He knows how to take your business to the next level. He also knows innovative ideas that will excel you above everyone else. But it starts by putting Him first in your life and business… and then asking Him to lead you. He won’t disappoint you. He never does. He IS faithful to lead us when we let Him.
