“Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” ~Jack Welch

Philippians 2:4
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

We all currently lead or will someday lead something. Sometimes it is a family, a department, a crew, a company or …….

It takes continuous improvement to continue to lead well. I don’t believe that anyone ever arrives and should stop working on themselves. We all need to keep getting better.

However, when we find ourselves leading others, the shift should be to not only keep improving ourselves and looking out for our own interests but to also focus on the best interest of all of the people we are leading.

One of the best ways to help others is to help them grow. I like the saying: “If you give someone a fish you will feed them for a day, but if you teach them how to fish, you can feed them for a lifetime.”

Ask yourself this question, it will help you become a better leader. “How can I help the people around me get better and how can I help them grow?” When you help someone else improve, you are giving them one of the best gifts you can ever give.
